Today Slovak Prime Minister signed a protocol on the establishment of Russian-Slovak Business Council
During a meeting between Russian and Slovak businessmen at the Embassy of Slovakia in Moscow on May 4 2007, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico signed a protocol on the establishment of a Russian-Slovak Business Council, a non-profit association of influential Russian and Slovak businessmen. Well-known Slovak businessman, ex economy minister Ludovit Cernak has been elected the Slovak co-chairman, Atomstroyexport President Sergey Shmatko – the Russian co-chairman.
The preliminary decision on the establishment of the Council was passed by the Russian-Slovak Inter-Governmental Commission during its 11th meeting in 2006. The Council is supposed to promote economic ties and to coordinate the investment and commercial projects of Russian and Slovak companies.
Presently, Russian and Slovak companies actively cooperate in the energy sector, particularly, in nuclear power engineering, chemical industry, hotel business and tourism, machine and ship building.
The Council will actively promote the development of Russian-Slovak relations, particularly, by setting up JVs.
The Russian-Slovak Business Council is supposed to be a bridge between Russian and Slovak businessmen and authorities and an effective instrument for developing economic ties.
Atomstroyexport CJSC is the leading Russian organization implementing inter-governmental agreements on the construction of nuclear facilities abroad. Presently, this is the only company in the world who is simultaneously building 7 nuclear power units in China, India, Iran and Bulgaria.
