Rosatom and Ukratomprom have signed a protocol on cooperation between Russian and Ukrainian nuclear power companies
The protocol was signed by the director general of Ukratomprom, the president of the National Nuclear Power Company of Ukraine Energoatom Andrey Derkach and the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko, reports the press service of Energoatom.
The protocol confirms the commitment of the sides to further develop their cooperation on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
More specifically, Ukratomprom and Rosatom are going to develop their cooperation in research and engineering, safety enhancement, NPP design and construction, development of nuclear fuel cycle companies and joint expansion into third markets.
The sides are going to consider the possibilities of establishing uranium extraction and enrichment JVs and producing nuclear fuel at Ukrainian and Russian companies.
By July 1 2007 Ukratomprom and Rosatom will made a list of specific projects. The cooperation will be carried out by a JV to be founded on a parity basis by Kharkiv Research and Development Institute Energoproject (Ukraine) and Atomenergomash (Russia).
