Fire response exercises to be conducted at Novovoronezh NPP on June 13 2007

Fire response exercises will be conducted at Novovoronezh NPP on June 13. Fire fighters from Novovoronezh and Voronezh will take part in the training.

The radiation situation at Novovoronezh NPP is within norm. The averaged gamma background at the plant and in the nearby area is within the levels typical of the Central European part of Russia.

Presently, the plant has two operating units – 4th and 5th. The 3rd unit has been under planned repairs since May 22 2007: the reactor is being refueled, the 1st and 2nd steam generators are being overhauled, the turbines repaired.
