Russian President attends Rosatom’s exposition at 11th International Economic Forum in St.Petersburg

Rosatom’s innovative projects have been successfully presented at the 11th International Economic Forum in St.Petersburg

The projects were displayed at the specialized exhibition “Innovative Achievements of Russia.”
 
President of Russia Vladimir Putin and some of the CIS presidents attended the exhibition on June 10. Putin pointed out the solutions concerning the NPP-2006 project and the construction of mobile NPPs with ABV, KLT-40 and WBR reactors. The highlights of the exposition were high-temperature gas cooled nuclear reactor (for replacement of masout power plants) and MGR-T (for production of hydrogen and electricity) as well as inductive energy storage system and ecologically friendly integrated water treatment system. The projects were presented by the deputy director general-the director for scientific-technical policy of Rosenergoatom Vladimir Asmolov.

While presenting the Global Energy Award, Putin pointed out that the development of power engineering is a pledge of stability and progress in the world. “Russia is going to further support research in the spheres of innovative power technologies, ecological safety, power efficiency and power saving and thereby to contribute to the general development of the scientific potential of the energy sector. Today, stable energy supply is guarantee of economic success and high quality of life,” Putin said.

Vice Premier of Russia Sergey Ivanov said that by 2020 Russia is planning to have one of the five biggest GDPs in the world and to become the leader in 4–6 sectors of the high-tech market, particularly, in nuclear power engineering (nuclear power reactors and technologies).

Rosatom’s exposition was also attended by Economic Development and Trade Minister G.Gref ad Education and Science Minister A.Fursenko, the head of the Federal Agency for Science and Innovations S.Mazurenko, the head of the Federal Agency for Water Resources R.Khamitov, the president of Kurchatov Institute Y.Velikhov. All of them highly evaluated the achievements of the nuclear power industry.
 
Almost 9,000 people from 65 countries, including 54 official foreign delegations attended the St.Petersburg forum. Many of them visited Rosatom’s exposition.
