Carl XVI Gustaf: We are interested in Russia’s experience in nuclear power engineering

We are interested in Russia’s experience in nuclear power engineering, King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf said during his visit to Russia.

During a referendum in 1980 Sweden decided not to build new NPPs “but today we are beginning to revive nuclear power engineering and are interested in Russia’s experience and in cooperation with your country.”

The deputy head of Rosatom Ivan Kamenskikh said that Rosatom is ready to invite Swedish scientists and power engineers to work at Russian research reactors.

Kamenskikh told the guests about the federal nuclear and radiation safety program, which includes NPP decommissioning projects. Rosatom is planning to conduct tenders for NPP decommissioning and Swedish specialists are welcome to take part in them.

During the meeting the Rosatom representatives presented their nuclear energy development program. They said that Russia is going to attract local and foreign investors and set up JVs for NPP equipment program. “We are open for cooperation with our foreign colleagues in JV and other formats,” Kamenskikh said.
