Rosatom and Atomenergoproject sign contract for construction of Novovoronezh NPP-2

Rosatom and Atomenergoproject have signed a contract for the construction of the 1st and 2nd units of Novovoronezh NPP-2

On June 14 2007 the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy and Atomenergoproject (Moscow) signed a state contract for the construction of the 1st and 2nd units of Novovoronezh NPP-2.

On May 29 2007 Atomenergoproject won a relevant open tender and was proclaimed the general contractor of the project. The construction of NNPP-2 is part of the Federal Target Program “Development of the Nuclear Power Industry of Russia in 2007–2010 and –2015.”

The director general of Atomenergoproject Vladimir Generalov says that it is the first time in Russia that an engineering company will build an NPP. A total of 130bln RUR will be budgeted for the project.

The 1st unit will be launched in 2012, the 2nd unit — in 2013.
