On June 18 2007 a delegation of Vietnam visited the Crisis Center of Roseneroatom
The Russian side was represented by the head of the International Department of Rosenergoatom Anatoly Kirichenko, the deputy director of the Crisis Center Boris Pivnenko and Atomstroyexport representatives, the Vietnamese side – by Industry Minister Hoang Trung Hai.
While opening the meeting Kirichenko said: “We already cooperate with Vietnam. Our representatives have taken part in a conference in that country. We are actively developing Vietnam’s nuclear energy sector. ”
He told the Vietnamese guests about the activities of the concern and one of its key agencies, the Crisis Center.
Hai said that Vietnam is actively developing its energy sector. By 2020 it is planning to increase its power capacities by 18% and to build its first NPP with a capacity of 4000 MW. The National Assembly of Vietnam will shortly consider this project. “We hope that they will approve it,” Hai said. He told the Russian side about the preparations for a relevant tender.
Hai said that Vietnam is very much interested in Russia’s NPP construction experience, particularly, Russia might help Vietnam to train personnel for the future plant. He pointed out that the sides should more actively develop their cooperation in the nuclear power sector.
