Rosatom delegation to visit Irkutsk region

On June 22 2007 a Rosatom delegation, led by head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko, will visit Irkutsk region

The delegates are planning to visit Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine, which serves as a basis for the International Uranium Enrichment Center project, to meet with the governor of the region Alexander Tishanin and representatives of the local authorities, to sign an agreement between Rosatom and Irkutsk region.

During the visit the delegates of Rosatom and the managers of AECC will meet with local NGO representatives, particularly, with the winners of Rosatom’s contest of social projects.

To remind, the contest was organized by the Public Council of Rosatom for public, ecological and non-profit organizations. 145 projects were submitted from Mar 12 2007 till Apr 27 2007. The 49 winners will get a total of 36mln RUR. This year the contest was held for the second time. Last year it covered only Chelyabinsk region, this year it embraced Leningrad, Murmansk, Kaliningrad, Chelyabinsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk regions.

The winners from Irkutsk proposed creating a museum of entertaining engineering for schoolchildren and organizing an ecological camp on Lake Bailkal for over 150 teens.
