Cooperation is a pledge of successful development

On June 22 Head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko visited Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine

On June 22 Head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko paid a working visit to Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine. He visited the production site, met with the management of the plant, local NGO and media representatives.

Kiriyenko and Governor of Irkutsk region Alexander Tishanin signed an agreement on cooperation between Rosatom and Irkutsk region. The sides expressed commitment to actively cooperate for the benefit of the region and the whole country.

Kiriyenko was satisfied with what he saw at the plant. He said that AECC is the youngest and one of the best separation plants in Russia. «We are planning three separate projects here. First, the development of the company itself: by 2015 its capacities will be almost redoubled. Second, the establishment of an international uranium enrichment center: the preliminary stage of this project is near completion; since it is not a new production, no public hearings are needed. And, finally, the third project is Russian-Kazakh JV „Uranium Enrichment Center“: this project requires the launch of new capacities, so, it must be coordinated with the supervisory authorities and the public. $2.5bln will be invested in the construction. 2,000 jobs will be created.»

Kiriyenko said that it is necessary to speed up the «Kedr» project, a system reducing uranium hexafluoride into safer uranium tetrafluoride. «We need to commission the system by 2011 rather than 2012 — before the launch of new capacities.»

Kiriyenko said that Rosatom will not prolong the existing and will not make any new contracts for uranium hexafluoride import into Russia.

He proposed that the data of the company’s automated radiation and chemical control system be displayed not only on information boards on the production site and in the city but also on the internet.
