Rosenergoatom and Power Machines discuss terms of power equipment supply

29.06.2007 // Press service of Rosenergoatom

During a meeting in St.Petersburg on June 28 2007 Rosenergoatom and Power Machines discussed problems concerning supply of turbines and generators to NPPs

The delegations were led by Director General of Rosenergoatom Sergey Obozov and Director General of Power Machines Boris Vainzikher. Representatives of Zarubezhatomenergostroy and Atomenergoproject were also present at the conference.

Obozov said that Rosenergoatom regards Power Machines as its strategic partner: “Today, the plants of your holding are taking an active part in our program for prolonging the lives, modernizing and enhancing the capacities of our existing nuclear power units. We already have contracts worth 3bln RUR and are planning to make new ones under the nuclear energy development program.”

Before the meeting the Rosenergoatom delegates visited the holding’s companies: Elektro-Sila plant (generators), Turbine Blades Plant (blades for all types of steam and gas turbines) and Leningrad Metal Plant (steam turbines).

“Nobody doubts that these companies will take part in the federal nuclear energy development program,” Rosenergoatom Deputy Director General Alexander Polushkin said. “That’s why we decided to visit them and to see if they are ready to fulfill our orders. My first impression is that they are well alive: they have lots of orders, are actively recruiting personnel and modernizing equipment. People are getting seriously prepared for the future.”

During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of problems, particularly, preparation of equipment for the 2nd unit of Rostov NPP. For example, the generator of the unit has been stored at Elektro-Sila plant for over a decade and now needs an overhaul. Director General of Power Machines Boris Vainzikher instructed the director of the plant to start reconstructing the generator as soon as possible.

One more important subject was the supply of equipment to the 4th unit of Kalinin NPP. The sides agreed to solve all problems preventing LMP and Elektro-Sila from producing the equipment.

The sides also discussed the terms of Power Machines’ participation in the development of the nuclear power complex and the construction of new nuclear power units under NPP-2006 project. By Aug 30 Power Machines will present the specifications of its design and supply activities under the project.

While commenting on the results of the meeting, Sergey Obozov said: “From now on we are going to meet regularly so as to solve problems as soon as they arise. If need be, I will meet with Mr. Vainzikher, while our executives will meet on a regular basis.”
