Yuri Olenin elected TVEL President

On June 29 the shareholders of TVEL OJSC elected Yuri Olenin as President of the company

Yuri Olenin was born in Kirovabad (Azeri SSR), on Nov 13 1953 to a family of a serviceman. In 1976 he graduated from the Radio Engineering Department of Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. In 1986 he defended a thesis on Image Identification in Close Radar Ranging. In 1996 he graduated from the Law Department of Penza State Engineering University. In 2002 Olenin took top managers courses at Manchester Business School and German Management Academy. In 2002 he defended a thesis Surface Target Detection and Identification by Means of Radio Location. In 1976–1978 he was engineer at Ashtarak Branch of Kometa Central Research Institute (Ashtarak, Armenian SSR).

In 1978–1989 Olenin was engineer, senior engineer, senior researcher, head of laboratory of Special Design and Engineering Bureau (Zarechny, Penza region). In 1989–1993 he was chief designer of the Research and Development Institute of Radioelectronics. In 1993–2004 he was director of RDIR and deputy director of Aileron company (Zarechny, Penza region). In 2004–2007 Olenin was director general of Start PA (Zarechny, Pneza region). On Mar 12 2007 he was appointed as vice president of TVEL.

In 1995–1996 Olenin was member of the Council of People’s Deputies of Zarechny, since 2002 – deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Penza region. In 2005–2007 he was president of the Association of Manufacturers and Businessman of Penza region.

Olenin is doctor of engineering sciences, the author of two monographs, two work books, over 100 scientific articles on close radar ranging and 20 innovations. He is Honored Designer of the Russian Federation (2003).
