Declaration of intentions to finance the construction of 3rd and 4th units of Leningrad NPP-2 has been approved

During a meeting in St.Petersburg on July 16 the inter-department commission for allocation of industrial resources in Leningrad region considered a declaration of intentions to finance the construction of the 3rd and 4th units of Leningrad NPP-2.

The deputy head of Rosenergoatom’s Department for Management of Investment Programs Y.Sharov told the Commission about the plans for developing nuclear capacities in North Eastern Russia and Leningrad region envisaged by the Federal Target Program for “The Development of the Nuclear Power Industry of Russia in 2007–2010 and till 2015” and the general scheme for deployment of power facilities till 2010. He pointed out that nuclear energy has traditionally played a big role in the power system of Leningrad NPP (40% of electricity production) and explained in what order the units of LNPP-2 will replace the units of the existing Leningrad NPP.

The chief engineer of the LNPP-2 project A.Kazarian told the Commission about the project, the key parameters of the units and the improvements that followed the remarks and proposals made during the discussions of the draft declaration.

The Commission considered the declaration and approved the project of the 3rd and 4th units of LNPP-2.
