Almost 1,000 children and teens are having rest under social projects financed by Rosatom
Almost 1,000 children and teens are having rest in 10 recreation camps all over Russia – from Murmansk to Irkutsk — under the social projects selected by Rosatom Public Council through a contest for public, ecological and non-profit organizations.
The contest took place from Mar 12 2007 till Apr 27 2007 with a total of 145 applications filed. The applicants suggested specific ways to solve the most urgent problems of their regions. The 47 winner projects have received a total financing of 36mln RUR.
Among the winners are three projects from Cheliabinsk region: rest for children from 7 to 16 living in Muslumovo, Brodokalmak, Russkaya Techa, N.Petropavlovsk, villages located along River Techa. Under one of the projects a group of 100 children witnessed how Sochi was celebrating its victory in the contest for the right to host the Winter Olympics 2014. The children were taken on excursions to the local tree nursery and Riviera Park, visited a real apiary and tried fresh honey, went to factories and tea plantations, played paint ball and had a good time in aqua-park. Special attention was given to their health: each morning they did an exercise on the seashore and took mineral and mud baths.
Meanwhile, another group of children was taken on an expedition to the famous Jasper Belt of the Ural Mountains. It was an excellent opportunity for the children to better know their native land and to see with their own eyes what unique treasures it has.
Under the third project, a group of children was taken to Lake Turkoyak, one of the most beautiful places of Southern Ural.
Four projects are underway in Leningrad region: recreation camps on the banks of Neva and on the shores of Lake Izhora and the Gulf of Finland with games, contests, research, meetings with interesting people, ecological actions, expeditions and many other events. It is not only a chance to have a good rest but also an excellent opportunity to learn.
In Irkutsk region the Russian Youth Union organized a recreation camp for 150 children of employees of Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine and poor families of Angarsk. The children will spend two weeks on Olhon island, Lake Baikal. The children will be able to dive into the lake’s mysterious depths and to look at it from to the heights of bird’s flight.
In Murmansk region children from Kandalaksha will have a rest at Lake Kolvitsa and will take part in a number of educational ecological events.
In Tomsk region 40 children from the observation zone of Siberian Chemical Plant are having rest in a recreation camp. They have got there as a result of a contest of the most careful and sincere nature lover. This project has been organized by Siberian Ecological Agency and is also the winner of the Rosatom contest.
