Specified strategy for mastering thermonuclear energy in Russia will be presented by Oct 1 2007

The program for mastering thermonuclear energy is comparable with the well-known GOELRO plan (the plan of the State Commission for Electrification of Russia), the first vice premier of Russia Sergey Ivanov said, today, while opening the Cabinet’s meeting concerning the strategy for mastering thermonuclear energy in Russia in the short- and long-term prospects. He pointed out that this technology of XXI will become the basis of social welfare and ecologically safe and profitable economy in Russia.

The Cabinet thoroughly examined the strategy and decided that it should be finalized by Oct 1 2007.

Ivanov pointed out that the strategy needs specification: it should have specific annual plans of actions. “It must be as pragmatic as possible. So, here we need international cooperation as it is cheaper and better than isolation.”
