Rosatom promulgates radiation control information about AECC

29.08.2007 // Interfax

For the first time ever Rosatom has promulgated the results of the monitoring of the automated radiation control system of AECC

For the first time ever Rosatom has promulgated the results of the monitoring of the automated radiation control system (ARCS) of Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine (AECC). Formerly, this information was confidential because of closed regime at the plant.

The results of the monitoring of the ARCS of AECC, particularly, information about radiation background, concentration of fluorine hydride and meteorological conditions – are published on the plant’s web-site on a daily basis.
To remind, during a meeting with residents of Angarsk and Irkutsk region in June 2007 the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko instructed the management of AECC to provide free access to the ARCS data.
All Rosatom facilities have automated radiation control systems.

Formerly, Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine was in the list of closed facilities but now that an international uranium enrichment center has been established there the plant has been removed from the list. AECC is the first uranium enrichment plant Russia has placed under IAEA’s guarantees.
