17.09.2007 // Press service of Rostekhnadzor

In 2009 Russia will receive IAEA mission

During the 51st IAEA General Assembly in Vienna the management of the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed their intention to visit Russia in 2009. The director of Rostekhnadzor Konstantin Pulikovsky says that the IAEA experts will examine Russia’s experience in ensuring nuclear and radiation safety. It will be the first IAEA mission since the establishment of that organization. “Now it is our time to receive IAEA experts,” says Pulikovsky.

The IAEA experts will check up how Russia controls the work of its nuclear companies, the protection of its nuclear power plants, the production of equipment for the nuclear industry, the storage of radioactive waste. “They will come to see how our nuclear and radiation safety system works.” Particularly, they will inspect our legislative base. Pulikovsky explains that the key objective of such visits is exchange of experience among countries using nuclear energy.
