Nuclear Energy provides a means of producing electricity without adding to greenhouse gases and global warming. It is also a clean source of energy. However, there are issues such as safety, cost, waste and proliferation that for many years have prevented the public acceptance and expansion of nuclear power in western countries.
As the fossil energy is getting expensive and noticeably affecting the environment, the nuclear power is again becoming attractive, and provides us with the opportunity to design fuel cycles that are safe, economical, proliferation resistant and minimize waste. While nuclear power has predominantly been a safe and secure power source producing electricity, there are other applications such as production of hydrogen that will lead to contribution to transport sector
