Rosatom has instructed ZiO-Podolsk to increase the production of equipment for the nuclear power industry by four times
Rosatom has instructed ZiO-Podolsk to increase the production of equipment for the nuclear power industry by four times in the next few years, the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko told journalists after a visit to the plant. “You have to increase your output for the nuclear power industry by four times in the next few years, and, at least, twice in the very near future,” Kiriyenko said.
He pointed out that Rosatom’s nuclear energy development program strongly depends on the plant’s work as ZiO produces the whole of the heat exchange equipment for nuclear power plants. Kiriyenko said that ZiO will have to produce four sets of nuclear equipment a year. “This is the minimum.”
Kiriyenko said that Rosatom is planning to set up a low-speed turbine production at ZiO Podolsk. The turbines will be produced jointly with Alstom (France) by French technology. “It will be a Russian enterprise but with technologies we haven’t had yet. It will become the flagship of our nuclear machinery construction.”
Kiriyenko reminded the journalists that in late 2006 ZiO-Podolsk joined Atomenergomash. Presently, it is owned by EMAlliance Atom, a company where Atomenergomash has 51% stake.
On Friday the plant summed up the results of its work under new owner. Kiriyenko was satisfied with the plant’s work. He pointed out that this year ZiO has increased its output for the nuclear power industry by 40% and profit by 30%. As a result, the company has got extra money for modernization.
At the same time, Kiriyenko noted that the plant should not increase its nuclear equipment production at the expense of other orders, particularly, for the energy and gas sectors.
