The authorities of Ural Federal District are ready to further cooperate with Rosatom on the development of nuclear energy

The authorities of Ural Federal District are ready to further cooperate with Rosatom on the development of nuclear energy in the region, the representative of the President to Ural Federal District Pyotr Latyshev said after the conference on nuclear energy development conducted by the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko in the region on Thursday.

“We believe that only through cooperation we can solve crucial national tasks. The projects we have carried out so far have shown that we have big reserves and big need to cooperate,” Latyshev said.

The head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko thanked Latyshev for the attention of his office pays to the problems of the nuclear industry. “Without your active support we would have never solved many important problems, particularly, we would have failed to resume the construction of the new unit of Beloyarsk NPP in Sverdlovsk region. We are planning to launch the unit in 2012. We have also solved the problem of the Techa cascade in Chelyabinsk region – a problem that had been pending for almost 30 years. And now we are considering the possibility to build South-Ural NPP,” Kiriyenko said.
