On Nov 16 head of the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy Sergey Kiriyenko met with Chief Executive Officer of AREVA Anne Lauvergeon
The sides discussed the prospects for developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Russian and French nuclear power companies.
Note
Since 1996 TVEL OJSC, in cooperation with AREVA, has supplied fuel to 5 nuclear reactors in Germany, 2 — in Switzerland, 1 – in Sweden and 1 — in the Netherlands. A total of 1,532 fuel assemblies have been supplied during the period. In 2008 the companies are planning to jointly supply fuel to the United Kingdom (Sizewell B reactor).
Presently, the sides are considering enlarging their cooperation by increasing the production of fuel assemblies and expanding into the US market (PWR and BWR reactors). Rosatom and AREVA are also considering the possibility of deepening their integration under joint investment projects for the development of direct enrichment of regenerated uranium.
Besides, while building Tianwan NPP, Atomstroyexport CJSC has applied digital control system. The concept of that system has been developed jointly with Russian specialists and has been purchased from AREVA. This cooperation may be developed under new NPP construction projects in Russia and abroad.
