Director of Leningrad NPP Valery Lebedev has been proclaimed Person of Year 2007

Director of Leningrad NPP Valery Lebedev has been proclaimed Person of Year 2007 in Nuclear Power Engineering nomination for outstanding contribution to the development of the energy sector.

The awarding ceremony took place in the Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on Dec 12 2007.

“Person of Year” award was instituted by Russian Biographical Institute in 1993 with a view to encourage the most active section of the Russian society. The award is granted in the fields of religion, state administration, economics, science, law, culture, medicine, sports, etc. The expert council consists of well-known politicians, scientists, clergymen, culture workers and laureates of the previous years.

Among the laureates of Person of Year 2007 are President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Aleksiy II, Director of Bakulev Scientific Center for Cardio-Vascular Surgery Institute Leo Bokeria and other outstanding citizens of the Russian Federation.

The other laureates in Nuclear Power Engineering nomination are Alexander Nechayev, senior vice president of Atomstroyexport CJSC for management of Tianwan NPP project in China, the director of Novovoronezh NPP Vyacheslav Vikin and the director of Kursk NPP Yuri Slepokon for outstanding contribution to the development of the energy sector.

The laureates were presented with certificate of laureate of “Person of Year 2007” and the Silver Cross of Russian Biographical Institute.

Biography

Valery Ivanovich Lebedev was born in Teikovo, Ivanovo region, in 1947.

In 1971 he graduated from the “Automation of Heat and Energy Processes” Department of Ivanovo Power Engineering Institute.

Since 1971 he has been instrumentation and automated control engineer, the senior engineer of the Skala information-computation system, the senior repairer of Skala ICS, the head of the Thermal Automatics and Measurements Department, the chief engineer, the acting director, the director of Leningrad NPP. 

Then, Lebedev was appointed as the Deputy Director General of “Rosenergoatom” Concern-the Director of Leningrad NPP (Sosnovy Bor, Leningrad region).

Lebedev is the laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation. He has been awarded the Order of “Friendship Among Nations,” the Certificate of Merit of the Ministry of Atomic Energy of the Russian Federation. He is Veteran of the Nuclear Power Industry.
