In 2007 Rosenergoatom Concern increased its electricity production by 2% to 157.5–158bln KWh, the acting director general of the company Alexander Lokshin said during a conference on Dec 18.
Lokshin said that in 2007 the capacity factor of the Russian NPPs grew by 1.5% to 77.5%. He pointed out that the index might be even higher were it not for weather. “The last winter was very warm and we didn’t work at full capacity in Feb-Mar.” “Presently, we are carrying out a large-scale program for construction of new nuclear power units. In 2007 the program received almost 65bln RUR (18bln RUR from the federal budget), next year, it will get 50bln RUR from the budget alone.” “Presently, we are building the 2nd unit of Rostov NPP (to be launched in 2009), the 4th unit of Kalinin NPP (2011); have started the construction of Novovoronezh NPP-2 and Leningrad NPP-2; and continue the construction of BN-800 reactor of Beloyarsk NPP.”
Rosenergoatom Concern operates all the 10 Russian nuclear power plants: 31 units with a total capacity of over 23GW.
