Working groups of Rosatom and Gazprom met at OKBM on Jan 23 2008
The groups have been formed for implementing the agreement for studying the possibility of use of nuclear power plants for supply of electricity to Gazprom facilities. The meeting was chaired by the deputy head of Rosatom I.Kamenskikh and the member of the board of Gazprom B.Budzulyak.
The deputy director of Atomenergoprom S.Obozov and the managers of OKBM, NIIIS and VNIIEF took part in the meeting.
The sides discussed the results of the feasibility study of the project to connect land and floating nuclear power plants with prospective gas deposits on the shelf of the Barents Sea and Yamal Peninsula. The study has shown that the use of floating NPPs may be economically expedient. However, it is necessary to more clearly specify the technical-economic parameters of the plants for their inclusion in the feasibility reports on Gazprom’s projected facilities.
OKBM and NIIIS made reports on the innovative projects carried out by Rosatom’s Nizhniy Novgorod-based enterprises in the interests of Gazprom.
The sides pointed out that Rosatom-Gazprom cooperation had quite good prospects and decided to enlarge the bilateral coordinating council for more effective study of the use of nuclear power plants under new gas mining projects in the Arctic region.
After the meeting Budzulyak, Kamenskikh, Zverev and Kostukov gave a press-conference. Kameniskikh said: “We enjoy new opportunities for cooperation and can enlarge the framework of our agreement. Rosatom’s companies in Nizhniy Novgorod have all capacities for active participation in the planned projects.”
