Rostekhnadzor jointly with a number of other federal agencies is drafting amendments to the law on use of nuclear energy

This measure is part of the plan of action for carrying out the second stage of the state policy on nuclear and radiation safety of the Russian Federation in 2007–2010 approved by the Government of the Russian Federation on Dec 17 2005.

The amendments are aimed at specifying the status of the facilities where peaceful nuclear tests have been carried out and the measures to rehabilitate and use them.

The head of Rostekhnadzor Konstantin Pulikovsky has set up an inter-department working group comprising representatives of Rostekhnadzor, Health Care and Social Security Ministry, Ecology Ministry, Ministry of Industry and Energy, Rosatom, Federal Security Service and some operating organizations.
