Unit 2 of Smolensk NPP stopped

Unit 2 of Smolensk NPP was stopped on Apr 17 2008

The reactor was stopped following detection of a hole in the weld joint of one of the pipelines.

As soon as the pipeline is repaired, the unit will be restarted.

The radiation situation at Smolensk NPP and in the nearby area is within norm.

Units 1 and 3 are operating at a capacity of 1,000 MW each.
