Public Dialogue-Forum “Nuclear Energy, Society, Safety” is taking place in Pribaltiyskaya Hotel, St.Petersburg, Apr 21–22 2008

The forum has been organized by the International Green Cross, the Public Council of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation and the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of Atomenergoprom OJSC.

Among the participants are:

Y.Yevstratov, the deputy director general of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation;

S.Baranovsky, the president of the Russian Green Cross;

A.Vasilyev, the director of the International Center for Ecological Safety of the Ministry of Atomic Energy of Russia;

I.Konyshev, the director of the Department for Cooperation with Public Organizations and Regions of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation;

R.Aleksakhin, the director of the All-Russian Research Institute for Agricultural Radiology and Agro-Ecology;

Stephan Robinson, the international coordinator of the Legacy of the Cold War program;

Y.Burlakova, the chairwoman of the Scientific Council for Radio-Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the deputy director of the Institute of Bio-Chemical Physics;

A.Yeperin, the research manager-the first deputy director of Nuclear Energy Institute.

The key objective of the forum is to openly discuss problems of nuclear and radiation safety in the territory of Russia and to establish dialogue with the public on the ways to safely develop the nuclear power industry.

Representatives of government and public structures, ecological organizations, research institutes and nuclear companies as well as foreign experts are discussing the state and the development prospects of the nuclear power industry, the problems of alternative energy sources and radiation safety, etc..
