Honoring the families of veterans of Kursk NPP

On May 16 Information-Analytical Center of Kursk Nuclear Power Plant conducted an evening party for old married couples “Years Make Love Stronger”

The event was organized by the Council of Veterans of Kursk NPP on the occasion of the Year of Family. 30 married couples – veterans of the plant – attended the event.

The deputy director general of Rosenergoatom Concern-the director of Kursk Nuclear Power Plant Yuri Slepokon welcomed the veterans. He pointed out the important role of the family in the life of society and told the veterans about the Concern’s policy to support young couples.
 
“Your example of long marriage is important for the education of the youth. Not only you worked at our plant — your children and grandchildren continue your cause. This is one of the ways to solve the problem of personnel,” Skepokon said.

The chairman of the Council of Veterans of Kursk NPP Yevgeny Kozarezov told the veterans about the priorities of the state policy for strengthening the family and the implementation of the relevant programs of the president and the government in Kursk region. He adduced interesting statistics: the Council of Veterans comprises 720 married couples who have lived together for over 40 years and have a total of 1,440 children and 2,800 grandchildren – most of whom work at Kursk NPP.
 
“All our veterans are proud that their children and grandchildren continue to work in the nuclear power industry. The family values and tradition are the basis of the intergenerational continuity at Kursk NPP.”

The veterans told about themselves and their families as well as about their family traditions. The crown of the evening was a concert given by creative groups of Kurhatov and the debut of the choir of veterans of Kursk NPP.

2008 has been proclaimed the Year of Family in Russia. The conduct of the Year of Family is aimed at consolidating the efforts of the government, society and business for enhancing the authority and supporting the institution of family and the basic family values. The Year of Family is being held all over Russia.
