Unit 2 of Rostov NPP: meeting of operational headquarters

The headquarters for the construction of the 2nd unit of Rostov NPP met on May 13–14

The chief of the headquarters, the director of the general contractor of the project, Nizhniy Novgorod Atomenergoproekt OJSC (NIAEP) Valery Limarenko specified the key tasks of the meeting: forming new master and local network schedules based on the opinion of the sub-contractor organizations, approving the plan of action for 2008, forming working groups from representatives of Vologodonsk NPP, NIAEP, sub-contractor organizations, Rosenergoatom Concern for ensuring the effective implementation of the project in 2008 and the timely launch of the unit.

The head of the Department for the Construction of Rostov Nuclear Power Plant of NIAEP A.Khazin said that the launching complex of the 2nd unit consists of 54 facilities: 34 are under construction, the construction of 4 will be started in June, 12 will be finished at the final stage of the project, 3 will be built at the 3rd unit. May 15–27 the owner and the general contractor will carry out an inventory of estimates to see how much work has been done and how much has to be done yet.

The headquarters have formed three working groups: a group for thermal installation work, led by the chief engineer of NIAEP Y.Koshelev, a group for electric installation work, led by the deputy director of NIAEP V.Sidorenko and a group for general construction, led by the director of the Volgodonsk Office of NIAEP N.Petrenko.

The headquarters have approved a new master schedule: particularly, they are planning to start producing electricity for own needs no later than Mar 15 2009, to carry out hydraulic testing in early Sept 2009, to launch the reactor in mid Nov 2009.
