On May 20–22 Kalinin NPP is holding a seminar on risk analysis with the support of Belgian colleagues
The senior engineer for maintenance of Tihange Nuclear Power Plant and the head of the training center of SIFOP (Belgium) have come to Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant in the framework of the On-Site Assistance of Kalinin NPP project, which is part of the Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation program.
For three days the parties are planning to discuss a wide range of problems related to safety culture at nuclear power plants.
The Belgian experts will present their nuclear safety and occupational safety programs and work permit systems as well as risk analysis methodologies and their possibility of their application at Kalinin NPP.
The coordinator of TACIS-INSC projects at Kalinin NPP Gulnara Izotova says that the seminar is being held in the form of presentation but the parties are considering the possibility of deeper exchange of experience concerning the risk analysis.
Note
The On-Site Assistance project was launched at Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant in 1992. Since then the plant has carried out a number of projects to improve its operating safety and efficiency: installed systems of condenser ball cleaning and vibrotesting, equipment for detection of neutron noise and monitoring of hydrogen in reactor compartment, introduced electric cables of low tension, SF6 circuit breakers, water chemistry diagnosis systems, safety valves and level regulators of steam generators, pipeline erosion-corrosion monitoring equipment, replaced the information and computation system of the 2nd unit, launched a local computer network, equipped the crisis center, etc..
