Police are searching for the people who have spread rumors about release of radiation at Leningrad NPP

The police are searching for the people who have spread rumors about release of radiation at Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant and preparations for evacuation of residents of Sosnovy Bor, reports the press service of Leningrad NPP.

“In response to the negative rumors concerning the work of Leningrad Nulear Power Plant (alleged release of radioactive elements and preparations of the rescue services of Sosnovy Bor for saving people who have suffered from the alleged accident, etc .), the head of the administration of Sosnovy Bor Municipal District has instructed the law enforcement agencies to find the people spreading the lies.”

“Presently, Leningrad NPP is operating safely and efficiently.”

“The radiation situation at Leningrad NPP, in Sosnovy Bor and its suburbs is within norm, which proves that the units of the plant are operating safely.”

The Central sanitary Unit #38 of Sosnovy Bor has not received any reports about any emergency situation at Leningrad NPP.

On Monday the press service of Rosenergoatom Concern reported that Leningrad NPP stopped its 4th unit for short-term maintenance. The maintenance will last till May 22. Presently, units 1, 2 and 3 are operating at a total capacity of 2,700MW.
