Schoolchildren of Murmansk region have written essays about Kola NPP

Over 100 schoolchildren of Murmansk region – Murmansk, Nadalaksha, Kovdora, Kirovsk, Polyarnye Zori, Afrikanda, Umba, Mezhdurechye — have taken part in the contest of essays “Clean Energy,” organized by Kola Nuclear Power Plant and Murmansk Office of the All-Russian Environment Protection Society.’

The contest is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the launch of the 1st unit of Kola NPOP.

The topics were quite difficult: “Peaceful Atom Serves the Polar Region,” “One Day Without Electricity,” “The Future of Electricity.”

The point was that while preparing for writing the compositions the children would have to read lots of books and, as a result, learn a lot about nuclear energy.

“We are glad that computer games are not the only thing our children are interested in. They show interest in global problems, such as energy or ecological crisis. The personnel of Kola NPP is glad to know that our schoolchildren are quite well informed of the great role of our plant in the development of our region,” the chairman of the jury, the deputy director of Kola NPP Igor Kuruzov said.

The winners of the contest will be granted certificates and gifts. The best works will be published.

On May 27–29 Polyarnye Zori are celebrating the 35th birthday of Kola NPP. The plant is planning a number of cultural and sports events for children, youths, veterans and own employees.
