Smolensk NPP is safe and efficient in the field of labor protection
On May 19–23 a commission of the Labor and Personnel Protection Department of Rosenergoatom Concern inspected 15 departments of Smolensk Nuclear Power Plants and its labor protection system.
The commission comprised representatives of the Labor and Personnel Protection Department of Rosenergoatom Concern, Novovoronezh, Volgodonsk and Kola NPPs.
While summing up the results of the inspection, the chairman of the commission-the deputy head of the Labor and Personnel Protection Department of Rosenergoatom Concern Tatiana Kirillova said that Smolensk NPP fully complied with Rosenergoatom’s labor protection standards, which was reflected in their findings.
The inspection has proved that Smolensk NPP is safe and efficient in the field of labor protection.
Smolensk NPP holds an ecological conference
Annual scientific-practical conference of Desnogorsk schools “Smolensk NPP: Ecology of the region” took place in the conference hall of the “Neutrino” Information Center of Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant. Teachers of pre-schools educational institutions, teachers of physics, chemistry, biology, geography of secondary schools attended the conference. Their pupils presented their ecological projects in 2007–2008.
Among the guests of the conference were the deputy director of Smolensk NPP Anatoly Terletsky and the head of the Radiation Safety Department Igor Krasnov. The management of Smolensk NPP presented a number of ecological activists with valuable prizes.
Desnogorsk has good and strong traditions of ecological education. For over 15 years already Smolensk NPP has been cooperating with the schools of Desnogorsk on cultivating ecological values among the growing generation with special focus on ecological and radiation safety.
Smolensk NPP workers visit schoolchildren
Last Bell holiday was conducted in the schools of Desnogorsk, the satellite city of Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant, and nearby villages on May 24. A group of workers of Smolensk NPP visited schoolchildren on that day and granted them presents.
On May 23 the director of Smolensk NPP Andrey Petrov welcomed the pupils of Yekimovichsky Boarding School. He said that the management of the plant regarded the school-leavers of Desnogorsk as potential reserve and hope that many of them will come to work at the plant.
Almost 400 children leave Desongorosk schools each year with many of them entering specialized universities in order to become nuclear power engineers.
