3rd unit of Novovoronezh NPP was stopped for scheduled maintenance on May 25

On May 25 2008 at midnight the 3rd unit of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant was stopped for scheduled maintenance and refueling.

Till July 3 2008 the plant is planning:

— to repair the reactor, steam turbine 10 and turbine generators 9 and 10;

— to overhaul steam generator 4 and main circulation pump 6;

— to repair steam generators 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6, main circulation pump 4, steam turbine 9 and volume compensator;

— to test the metal of the equipment and the pipelines of the reactor and turbine departments.

As was reported earlier, on May 10 after midnight turbine generator 9 of unit 3 of Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant was stopped for overhaul of the rotors of the high and low pressure cylinders, the oil system and the generator. The overhaul will last till July 3. Presently, 4 and 5 are operating safely and efficiently.

The averaged gamma background at the plant, in Novovoronezh and at the 20 points monitored by the Automated Radiation Control System sensors installed in 13 settlements of the 30-km zone is within the limits typical of the Central European part of Russia (8–25 mRh).
