27.05.2008 // Information Department of Kalinin NPP

Kalinin NPP has summed up the results of “From Splinter to Nuclear Power Plant” contest

On May 27 the PR Center of Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant was full of children. The plant’s Information Department was summing up the results of the “From Splinter to Nuclear Power Plant” contest.
The contest was carried out for six months among kindergarten children of Udomlia: the little experts, painters, writers, poets and journalists presented their works about electricity and nuclear power plants to their peers and parents. The objective of the contest was to make the children aware of what electricity and nuclear power plants are.

Six scientific reports on the subjects “What is Electricity?”, “Electricity in Nature,” “Electric Power Plants,” “Nuclear Power Plants of Russia” were made during the final in the Expert nomination. The children told their peers and parents about the history of electricity, how it is supplied to our houses and how many sources of electricity there are in nature. Sasha Pischutina from “Duymovochka” kindergarten was proclaimed the winner: the jury said that her report was the most interesting and easy to understand.

The self-made book “What We Know About Electricity” won in the Young Writers, Poets and Journalists nomination. It was made by the pupils of the “Murzilka” literary studio of “Smile” kindergarten.

The jury, comprising employees of Kalinin NPP, members of the plant’s trade union and youth organization and representatives of the Education Department of Udomlia district, said that all the children presented very interesting works and such events help them to enlarge their knowledge about the environment, in general, and the area of Kalinin NPP, in particular.
