Atomstroyexport has finished the deliveries of equipment to Paks NPP (Hungary)
In accordance with its contract, Atomstroyexport CJSC has finished the deliveries of high-pressure heaters to Paks Nuclear Power Plant (Hungary). The last lot consisted of heaters for the 2nd unit. The timely delivery allowed the Hungarian partners to replace the heaters of the 2nd unit according to the schedule of its maintenance.
High-pressure heaters are an important component of the main technological equipment of a nuclear power plant. The contract for their production and replacement was signed in 2003 following a tender where Atomstoryexport took part jointly with Hungarian Transelektro Group. The replacement of the equipment is being carried out stage by stage at all the four units of the plant.
In 2005–2007 Paks NPP replaced the heaters of the 1st, 3rd and 4th units.
As of today, all 24 heaters have already been delivered. The equipment has been produced by Atomstroyexport’s partners – ZIOMAR and Zio-Podolsk.
Note
Paks NPP is considered as one of the safest nuclear power plants in the world. The plant has four WWER-440 reactors of Soviet design launched in 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1986.
Atomstroyexport CJSC is the leading Russian organizations implementing intergovernmental contracts for the construction of nuclear power plants abroad. Presently, the company is carrying out 20% of the world’s relevant contracts and is the only company simultaneously building 1,000MW WWER reactors in four countries: Kudankulam NPP (two units) in India, Bushehr NPP (one unit) in Iran, Belene NPP (two units) in Bulgaria.
