Volgodonsk NPP is preparing for complex emergency response exercise

On Sept 24–25 Rosenergoatom Concern will conduct complex emergency response exercise at Volgodonsk NPP

It will be the first complex emergency response exercise at Volgodonsk NPP even though it has long become a tradition for Rosenergoatom Concern. The last exercise was conducted at Leningrad NPP in 2007 with experts from nine countries observing the event. Such exercises are an opportunity for Rosenergoatom Concern and its nuclear power plants to check up the efficiency of their emergency response systems and to improve their international with rescuers

In order to prepare well for the exercise, on June 24 Volgodonsk NPP started a series of preparatory exercises.

In early July the 9th detachment of the Federal Fire Service of the Emergency Ministry of Russia for Rostov region conducted an exercise for improving its interaction with the personnel of Volgodonsk NPP in responding to possible fires.

The key objective of the exercises is to work out a plan of action, to detect problems and to search for solutions. A total of 10 preparatory exercises will be conducted at the plant in June-Aug 2008.
