Technical support mission of the Moscow Center of the WANO, “Adoption of Effective Operational Decisions,” held at Kursk NPP

The participants in the mission considered real situations at world NPPs, analyzed the quality of adopted decisions, committed mistakes, specified corrective measures. In this context, they also examined other technically difficult projects, particularly, the flights of space shuttles.

When summing up the results the participants noted that it is necessary to thoroughly compare the existing routine rules and methods jointly with the WANO guidelines 2002–01 “Principles of Effective Operational Decisions” and to use the conclusions as a basis for operational improvement

The technical support mission is a component of the “Technical Support and Exchange” program of the WANO (World Association of Nuclear Organizations). This program provides for exchange of information and experience on NPP operation for raising efficiency and security.
