Conference in Germany on organization of new reactors construction

14.12.2006 // Press-service of Rosenergoatom

On Dec 11–13, 2006, representatives of Areva company and Rosenergoatom concern held a conference on cooperation in NPP construction

Among the Rosenergoatom delegates were Deputy Director General – Director for Development of Rosenergoatom A. Polushkin and Head of the Concern’s  Department on International Activities P. Razgarov.

The conferees discussed owner-contractor relations during NPP construction, particularly, Areva’s activities for building new units at Olkiluoto NPP in Finland and Flammanville NPP in France.

Until recently the operating organization has been the absolute leader in NPP construction projects in Russia – just like it was in  Soviet times. Today, Rosenergoatom is the only manager of such project: it orders design-project, carries out purchases, organizes contracts, launches new reactions.

However, the situation has changed after the approval of the federal target program  “Development of the Nuclear Power Industry of Russia in 2007–2010 and Prospects till 2015.” Shortly, the Concern will have to implement an unprecedentedly large program for developing nuclear capacities. The Concern’s usual work organization may prove insufficient for this project. That’s why it is planned to set up companies capable to carry the project through according to the models applied by Areva in Europe.
