Representatives of Rosenergoatom, the biggest generating company in Russia, and Tractebel, a Belgian energy group, held a seminar in Moscow on Dec 14, 2006. The sides exchanged experience in working with scientific-technical and normative documentation.
Rosenergoatom was represented by specialists of Production and Technical Department, Scientific-Technical Department and the Department of International Activities, the Belgian side — by representatives of Tractebel Energy Engineering.
The Belgian specialists instructed their Russian colleagues on how to effectively manage workflow at national NPPs. In 2006 Tractebel held similar seminars at Kolskaya and Kalinin NPPs.
The Russian specialists pointed out the high value of the information provided by the Belgian side and confirmed their commitment to continue further cooperation on the issue.
The Belgian experts expressed interest in the Russian experience in conducting IAEA NPP safety review missions – OSART. Particularly, they wanted to know about the inspection held at Volgodon NPP in 2005. One more OSART mission will be held at the plant in 2007. The inspectors will check up how the plant fulfilled the recommendations of the previous mission.
In Belgium the first such mission will be held in 2007.
Rosenergoatom and Tractebel cooperate on the basis of the framework agreement signed in 2001. The sides exchange experience in treating radioactive waste and raising the safety and plant ratio at NPPs, modernizing and prolonging the service period of reactors, ensuring engineering and technical support. Every year the sides hold seminars for Russian and Belgian nuclear power engineers.
