Technical state of Smolensk NPP

The 2nd and 3rd units of Smolensk NPP are operating at a total capacity of 1,970 MW. There are no problems with equipment.

Since Oct 4 2006 the 1st unit of the NPP has been overhauled. Part of its fuel channels are to be replaced. The work is being carried out according to the schedule.

Since the beginning of this month Smolensk NPP has generated 1.150bln KWh, since the beginning of this year – 19.175bln KWh, which is 577mln KWh more than planned for the period.

The radiation background at the plant and in the nearby area is within norm.
