3rd unit of Kursk NPP stopped

The 3rd unit of Kursk NPP was automatically stopped on Mar 25 9:05 AM because of troubles in the electric equipment of the open distribution system

The unit will be restarted as soon as the defects are removed on Mar 27

Presently, the plant has two operative units – 1st and 4th. The 2nd unit is being repaired. No safety limits have been exceeded.

The radiation background at the plant and in the nearby area is within norm.
