Reactor of 2nd unit of Tianwan NPP fueled

The fueling of the primary active zone of the 2nd unit of Tianwan NPP was completed on Mar 23

A total of 163 fuel rods of improved modification (produced at Novosibirsk Plant of Chemical Concentrates) have been loaded in the zone. This is one of the final stages before the unit’s launch.

The contract for the construction of Tianwan NPP was signed in 1997: Russia has pledged to build two units with WWER-1000 with a total capacity of 2000 MW. The general contractor is Atomstroyexport. Tianwan is the biggest project of the Russian-Chinese economic cooperation. It is also the biggest NPP project in China.
