1st unit of Bilibino NPP restarted after planned preventive repair

The 1st unit of Bilibino NPP was restarted on Mar 29 after planned preventive repair

All planned measures for repairing the reactor, turbine generator and control and measuring equipment, partly refueling the reactor, replacing of the 110 KV oil-filled bushing of the package transformer have been carried out in line with the schedule of the repairs of the Russian NPPs in 2007.

Almost 200 specialists from the NPP and 9 specialists from the contractor organizations were involved in the repairs.

Presently, the NPP has four operative units. No safety limits have been exceeded.

On Apr 4 the 2nd unit will be stopped for 60-day planned preventive repairs.

The radiation background at the plant and in the nearby territory is within norm.
