Annual preventive maintenance started at Volgodonsk NPP

According to the schedule, the 1st unit of Volgodonsk NPP was stopped on Apr 17 1:55 AM for annual preventive maintenance

The maintenance will last for 60 days till June 15.

During that period, the personnel will unload the fuel, overhaul the reactor, the steam generator #3, the pressure compensator and the circulating pump #3, repair the steam generators #1, 2, 4, the circulating pumps #1,2, 4 as well as the generator and the low pressure cylinder in the turbine department.

413 people from the plant’s Repair Service and 756 specialists from the contractor organizations will take part in the maintenance. Almost 170mln RUR is to be spent on the project.

Annual scheduled preventive maintenance is obligatory for all NPPs and is aimed at enhancing their safety and efficiency. The key objective is to timely detect and remove defects and to upgrade existing systems so that they operate more effectively. During scheduled preventive maintenance power units are stopped and their outdated, worn-out or damaged equipment is replaced or restored.
