The installation of a steam generator has been started at the 1st unit of Kudankulam, an Indian NPP being build with the support of Russian Atomstroyexport
The generator was lifted to the level of 31.5 m and transferred to the reactor building, where it will be installed with the help of a polar crane. The generators of the 1st, 3rd and 4th units will be installed later. Steam generator is one of the key elements of a double-circuit NPP. It generates steam for the turbine.
In the turbine section the personnel is fixing high and low pressure cylinders.

Atomstroyexport’s obligations under the Russian-Indian inter-governmental agreement signed in 2002 are: to draft the technical project and the working documentation, to control the construction process, to supply equipment and materials from Russia and third countries, to provide technical support during the launch of the plant, to train the operating personnel in Russia. The construction is carried out by the Indian side.
A total of 35 shipload lots of equipment from Russia and Ukraine have been delivered to the site since Apr 2003. Their volume totals 275,543 c m, the net weight – 65,318 tons. Third countries have supplied 43,000 c m (11,942 tons) of equipment.
