Specialists of Smolensk NPP are meeting with representatives of AMEC NNC (UK) and TVON (Finland)

A business meeting with representatives of AMEC NNC (the UK) and TVON (Finland) is taking place at Smolensk NPP on June 17–23 2007 in the framework of TACIS program. The topic of the meeting is Safety Culture.

Smolensk NPP is represented by deputy chief engineers Alexander Vasilyev, Alexander Parshinm Vladimir Zakharenkov, senior specialists of the electrical, turbine, nuclear safety and control engineering departments.

The foreign experts will conduct a seminar on safety culture principles and self-assessment methods. The sides will discuss the preliminary results of the relevant projects carried out at Smolensk NPP.

Such contacts help SNPP to enhance its safety and efficiency.

Young specialists of Smolensl NPP are for patriotic education of the growing generation

The Organization of Young Nuclear Power Engineers of Smolensk NPP, jointly with Desnogorsk “Krivichi” club, have organized a military-sports game “Zarnitsa” at “Raduga” summer camp near the village of Butyrka, Roslavl district.

This year the camp is celebrating its 12th anniversary. At first, it was just a tent city, now, it is a stationary camp. Some 30 schoolchildren are having rest there at the moment. The key goal of the local teachers is to cultivate patriotism among their pupils.

On June 16 2007 the Youth Organization of SNPP and “Krivichi” club organized a military-sports game that included obstacle course, shooting, quiz, first aid contest. 

 “It was a remarkable event. It was the best Zarnitsa ever,” the director of the Camp Oxana Kondrashenko said.

“One of our goals is to cultivate patriotism among our growing generation. Such events help us to remember our historical and cultural values,” the chairman of the Organization of Young Nuclear Power Engineers Yevgeny Shupta said.
