STUK experts have visited Kola NPP

Representatives of Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK), Hansabaltic Oy and Takamäki Oy (Finland) and Kola NPP (Russia) met in Poliarnye Zori (Murmansk region) on July 9–12 2007 in line with the Rosenergoatom-STUK and Kola NPP-STUK cooperation agreements in the framework of Kola NPP-Rostekhnadzor-STUK technical program.

The sides discussed two topics.

The first topic was exchange of information and experience between Rostekhnadzor inspectors at Kola NPP and Leningrad NPP and STUK experts.

The safety management reporting project was launched in the early 1990s and has been successfully implemented ever since. Presently, STUK is drafting a sample report for more specific and effective reporting and Rostekhnadzor will consider it with due regard for Rosenergoatom’s interests.

The second problem concerned Spent Fuel Attribute Tester (SFAT), a system of spent fuel control designed by STUK. The sides agreed that Kola NPP will be provided with such a system by the end of Sept and will test it by the end of this year. The relevant contract will be made shortly.
