Awarding ceremony of international children’s contest “We are Children of Atom City” took place on July 21

The awarding ceremony of the 7th international contest of children’s drawings “We are Children of Atom City” took place in Sosnovy Bor (Leningrad NPP) on July 21.

15 delegations (children with their parents) from eight Russian nuclear cities — Desnogorsk, Volgodonsk, Balakovo, Novovoronezh, Udomlia, Kurchatov, Poliarnye Zori and Bilibino – as well as Dimitrovgrad, Izhevsk, Priozersk and Kingiseppsky came to Sosnovy Bor to receive their awards.

Among the winners were children from four foreign countries: Lithuania, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Finland. They also attended the ceremony.

The contest had three nominations: “About NPP and About Myself” (11 laureates and 9 special awards), “City of My Dream” (11 laureates and 9 special awards) and “The Light of the Past” (12 laureates and 7 special awards).

The ceremony was attended by the assistant to the Rosenergoatom director general O.Zheltov, the head of Sosnovy Bor district V.Nekrasov, the deputy mayors of Sosnovy Bor I.Alekseyeva and A.Kaluzhny, the deputy director of Leningrad NPP N.Kirillov, the director of the Museum Agency of Leningrad region N.Zhukovskaya, the director of Suvorov Museum (St.Petersburg), the vice chairman of the Union of Museum Workers of St.Petersburg and Leningrad region N.Kuzmin, the assistant deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Leningrad region V.Ryabova, the member of the board of the Union of Women of Leningrad region T.Volgina.

Kirillov presented the principal awards, while the others – special prizes.

The youngest participant D.Ivanenko from Sosnovy Bor has received the Rosenergoatom prize, A.Ryasina (Sosnovy Bor) — the prize of the Museum Agency of Leningrad region, A.Karpova (Sosnovy Bor) — the prize of the Suvorov Museum and the Union of Museums of Leningrad Region, Y.Smirnova (Udomlia), Y.Solozhenko and K.Bukhtiak (Sosnovy Bor) — the prize of the Museum of Fine Arts, R.Blagoyeva (Bulgaria) — the prize of the Sosnovy Bor Municipality, D. Kartashova — the prize of the Union of Women of Leningrad region, T.Chernichenko (Sosnovy Bor) — the prize of the Culture Department of Sosnovy Bor, the orphanage of Bilibino (Chukotka) and the Ceramics Studio (Sosnovy Bor) — the prize of the Club of LNPP Employees, P.Titova (Poliarnye Zori) and P.Malicheva (Sosnovy Bor) — the prize of LNPP Information Department.

Besides the awarding ceremony Rosenergoatom, Leningrad NPP, Sosnovy Bor Museum of Modern Art and the Museum Agency of Leningrad region planned a big cultural program: the children were taken on tour of St.Petersburg, visited the State Hermitage Museum and Catherine’s Palace at Pushkino.
