Leningrad NPP raises capacity of unit 4

On July 31 Leningrad NPP restarted turbine generator 8 of unit 4

The turbine was stopped at on July 31 9:45 AM because of some technological problems.

By 1:30 PM it was already operating at 200 MW and the capacity kept growing.

Presently, the 1st, 2nd and 4th units of Leningrad NPP are operating at a total capacity of 2660 MW.

To remind, on July 20 the 3rd unit was stopped for planned modernization and overhaul. The 2nd unit is being prepared for the second stage of modernization.

Since Apr 1 2002 Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant has been the branch of Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Russian State Concern for Production of Electric and Thermal Power at Nuclear Power Plants” (Rosenergoatom Concern).

The plant has four units with RBMK-1000 reactors with a total capacity of 4000 MW. In 2006 the plant produced 23.178bln KWh.

The plan for 2006 — 21.330bln KWh – was fulfilled on Dec 5 2006.

21.198bln KWh was released into the energy system of Russia. The capacity factor made up 66.2%.
