Kursk journalists visited Smolensk NPP

On Aug 9 2007 a group of journalists from Kursk region, led by the chairman of the regional organization of the Union of Journalists of Russia Alexander Shiglenko, and employees of the Information-Analytical Center of Kursk NPP visited Desnogorsk. The guests visited Smolensk NPP and Desnogorsk, met with their local colleagues and the chairman of the Smolensk regional organization of the Union of Journalists of Russia Vladimir Parfenov.

The sides exchanged their views about the prospects of the nuclear power industry. In order to develop their cooperation the heads of the regional organizations of the Union of Journalists of Russia and the heads of the information centers of Smolensk NPP and Kursk NPP signed a protocol of intention to set up a joint press-club.

Competition of volunteers

On Aug 11 Smolensk NPP and its contractor organizations conducted a tradition competition of volunteer firemen.

33 teams (165 firemen) took part in the competition. They showed their ability to fight fire. The firemen of the radiation safety department of Smolensk NPP hit a new rector: they put out the fire in just 1.74 second. The women of the chemical department did that in 2.49 seconds.
